Day Two: 1st March, 2020

Yamuna - On the way to Sankri

We checked-out our hotel early morning, around 06:00 AM and started towards Dehradun railway station, which was 8 KM approx. from hotel. Booked OLA cab and the driver was on-time picking us and dropped before 06.30 AM. "Thrillophilia" had arranged a tempo traveller to commute from Dehradun to Sankri, a 200 KM journey. We were five people and it was time to meet the other trekkers, Mahesh Sir & Pratik from Mumbai, Shubham & his team from Kolkata, Twinkle Shah from Ahmadabad. Out of all, became a big fan of Mahesh sir, after knowing his fitness level, as am always bow my head to fitness fanatics.

The journey to Sankri began as the air soon filled with the sounds of everyone joy and excitement, as we passed the beautiful city. We were surrounded by landscapes, with valleys and greeneries, with Yamuna running alongside.

Mussoorie - Our first stop

Our first stop was at Mussoorie, near Kempty fall, where we had our breakfast. Tried hot Maggie, mouth watering pav bhaji. After breakfast we continued towards our destination, passing through small villages. Our last stop for lunch was, Purola, where some people had lunch and some skipped their lunch due to sickness.. the narrow and bumpy hilly roads. And this was the last stop, where all mobile network works. We were instructed to call our respective family members and inform, as next few days will be staying in no network coverage area, some mobile operators like BSNL works sometimes at and after Sankri, though. The sky above our head was completely breathtaking, which even increased our excitement level to reach the destination.

Sankri

We finally arrived at our destination, Sankri, the beautiful small village, surrounded by mountains and greeneries. We were warmly welcomed by Hotel staffs. We were allotted separate room, as per group booking. I didn't expect much apart from a good bed and blankets as temperature outside was freezing cold. After refreshment we were called for dinner around 07:00 PM, was waiting for this as we all skipped our lunch. Dinner time, its the time to have nice hot dinner and meeting with other trekkers who joined directly in Sankri  and our guides, Dev, Mahaveer ... Followed dinner a talk session by guides on basic trekking essentials to carry, and if anyone having any illness history, to inform to guide. We all were tired after the dinner, and retired for the night before 09:00 PM, to our respective rooms, for our early start the next morning. It was advisable to keep our extra luggage in the hotel locker room and carry as less things as we can.
